Break the Mould with Steel Lintels

The building industry is quite a remarkable place. In the beginning, homes and buildings were all built by hand from materials that could be easily found from the surrounding environment: stone, timber, mud, thatch, etc... All of these buildings were obviously custom built, and mostly by the owner or those going to take up residence. As time goes on and the population increases, there is demand for more housing and quicker construction times. With the advancement of construction processes and technology, construction companies are able to build an entire home quickly.

While timber has been playing major part in residential construction, the implementation of structural steel has gone from being a ‘nice-to-have’ with a gradual up-take, to becoming one of the fastest growing construction materials in the last decade.

Because of its light weight nature, structural steel can be easily transported and handled, meaning it’s far less cumbersome on construction sites than wood, and can be installed with minimal delays.

Due to the many safety and structural standards within the Australian building industry, steel fabricating companies are creating high-quality ‘off-the-shelf’ pieces to aid quick turn-around times, enabling them to be ordered online and shipped within days.

Off-the-shelf lintel fabrication is based around pre-determined specifications, such as dimensions and load bearing weights. However, there will always be that one job where you need something ‘outside-the-norm’.

Therefore, even with these are great technological and procedural advancements within the building industry, there are still times when a custom fabrication job is needed. Which is something Stronghold Fabrications can help you with.

Stronghold has the facilities to provide you with custom fabricated lintels upon request. Our lintels are fabricated to your structural engineer’s specifications, and can be supplied as either Hot Dip Galvanised (HDG) or Primed Finish.

Also, all our standard lintels are supplied Hot Dip Galvanised and comply with Australian Standards AS/NZS4680 and AS/NZS2699.3 which ensures that all surfaces are fully protected from corrosion. All Galvanised Lintels can be supplied as standard lengths, or can be cut to size as per your requirements. All Stronghold Fabrications Lintel orders can be delivered within two business days.
